Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What does the membership application include?
Because members have unsupervised access to the studio, our application includes questions about previous clay experience as well as a short series of skill check questions. We also ask applicants to submit between 5-10 photos of their completed work.

  2. How long after application will I know if I am approved?
Applications will be processed within 7 days of submission

  3. Is there an initiation fee and what does it cover?
There is a $100 non-refundable initiation fee that all members must pay when they join the studio. The fee covers all costs of setting up personal shelf space in the studio, a key and fob for the door, and all other administrative matters. If the fob is broken or lost, there is a separate, $100 replacement cost charge.

  4. How will I know when the studio is unavailable for membership access?
Our website has a calendar feature which shows the currently scheduled classes and private events. The studio is available to members during all open studio sessions and any other time not booked by a class or event.

  5. I have a pottery business and I do a lot of production work, can I be a member? Memberships currently do not support production level work, but if you are looking for a place to fire your work please reach out. We do offer kiln rentals.

  6. I have a lot of clay from my previous studio, can I fire it with my Rebel Potters membership?
Members are required to purchase their clay from Rebel Potters. If you have clay from other sources you would like to have fired, it needs to be approved by the Studio Manager to ensure that it is fired to the right temperature, and there is a $30 firing fee per 25lb bag of clay.

  7. What happens after my application is approved?
Newly approved members will have a short 1 hour studio orientation with the studio manager where they will get their key, assigned shelf space, and be introduced to the studio and policies.

  8. Do I have to pay the full six-month membership commitment in advance?
No, you can pay the $150 membership fee monthly, with automatic payments through Kiln Fire.

  9. I am no longer able to commit to the full six-month initial membership term, can I end it early?
We understand, sometimes life happens! Though we do ask for a six-month initial commitment, if your circumstances change and you are unable to honor it, we ask for 30-days notice before discontinuing membership.
