Pottery & Firing
Our Kilns
We have two kilns. We do not charge firing fees for regular-sized pieces.
Size limits & Oversize Firing Fee. The acceptable dimensions for pottery is 12”Lx12”Wx12”H or under. Any pieces exceeding these dimensions will be assessed a $10 firing fee per piece, which must be paid before the piece will be fired. In no situation may a piece of work exceed 14”L x 14”W x 15”H. In fairness to the rest of the Rebel Potters community, and limited kiln space, we cannot fire pieces larger than these dimensions. In such instances, a private firing at the rate of $20 a shelf or $80 for the entire kiln is recommended. The size limits and oversize fees apply to all studio participants – students, techs, members.
Rebel Potters Management reserves the right to decline to fire any pottery deemed “problematic” or assess a reasonable fee for any pottery that causes damage to the kiln.Clay pieces are bisque fired to cone 06 and glaze fired to cone 6.
Please make sure any glazes, washes, etc you use are compatible with cone 6 firings. If you are unsure, ask an instructor before buying or using a glaze.
Our Clays
All clays sold at Rebel Potters are designed to be suitable for firing in our kilns up to cone 6. In addition to our cone 6 clays, we also offer cone 10 clays intended for wood-fired kilns. If you are considering participating in a wood-firing, please talk with your instructor for more information.
Clays can be acquired in person at the studio. Payment is required on receipt. Payments for clays can be made on Rebel Potter’s Kilnfire page.
